Outpost Defense is our eleventh template: a top-down pixel arcade game where players hold a desert outpost against waves of critters, and every wave cleared earns them a question.

How it plays

Players pick a hero — fox, bear, mouse or bunny — and defend the outpost at the centre of the arena. Cactus slimes, bats, beetles and robots pour in through four gates, and the last wave ends with a boss. The hero's blaster aims and fires by itself, so players focus on moving, dodging and dashing.

Your questions are the supply drops

Clear a wave and a supply crate lands on the outpost with one of your questions.

  • Right answer: points, and a choice of three upgrades — rapid fire, spread shot, power rounds, a shield, an outpost repair, faster feet, a sentry turret or an extra heart.
  • Wrong answer: the right answer and its explanation, and a small repair so the run carries on.

Because the upgrades matter for the next wave, every answer counts — and the explanation lands right when players are paying attention.

Built for phones

On a phone a joystick appears wherever the player touches the screen and disappears when they let go, with a DASH button under the other thumb. On a computer it plays with WASD or the arrow keys, the mouse to aim and Space to dash.

Make it yours

Your logo flies on the outpost flag and your colours paint the flag, buttons and panels. In the editor you set the number of waves, hero hearts, enemy speed, how long players have to answer and the pass score — or ask Chillo to set it up for you.

Try Outpost Defense, or read how to build one.
